As of the beginning of this course, I know only a few bits and pieces of marine biology. I know that the moon causes tides, I know that coral reefs can only survive at very specific temperatures, so the warming of the oceans is bad for them. I know that we know very little about the ocean floor and that a vast majority of the ocean is unexplored. I know that there is a huge island of plastic that floats around the ocean and that microplastics are increasing in the ocean. I know that marine life has food chains and relationships between species just like land animals. I think that I know more about marine biology than this, but this is all that comes to mind right now.

I want to know how creatures can survive in tidal pools. I would like to learn about what I can change in my daily life in order to help benefit the ocean and make sure the species in it can survive. I want to know what conditions and habitats have caused so many unique species to evolve. I want to know how sea mammals can survive long journeys across the oceans without tiring and how they can hold their breath for so long. I want to know how small sea creatures can eat plankton and also how plankton can support so many organisms.
